Drew Barrymore Rocks It

There's been a lot of blog chatter about Drew Barrymore's hair at the 2009 Golden Globe awards held this past Sunday. Most reviews and comments seem to be along the lines of, "What was she thinking?" The Fug gals even said she looked like she was shot out of a cannon.

You know what? I LOVE this look! Now maybe it's because I spend my days immersed in the past. Or maybe it's because I always side with the underdog. But on a night when everyone's dress looked the same, and everyone's hair was "safe", Drew really rocked this look, straight out of the mid 1960's. Drew, don't listen to the naysayers! There are those of us who understand!

The following images are all from Vogue, October 1964. See what I mean?

How about you? Did you love or hate Drew's hair?

When I saw this picture yesterday, I thought "total bombshell" (in the good way). She's a gorgeous woman.

Drew can pretty much do no wrong in my book, and this is no exception. Love it.

It's so good to hear that other people thought Drew looked fabulous. Her dress was beautiful, the color suited her and her make up and hair looked amazing. I think she had the best look of the night.

Your post is right on. I tuned in to the show for only 10 minutes or so and she was the only memorable thing about it, so far as I was concerned :-). I truly love her dress, and her slightly over-the-top styling made her stand out in a sea of boring!

She looks fantastic! Honestly, part of me wonders whether or not people are so exercised about this because not only does she look gorgeous, she looks, heave forbid, different. Not the rather frightening and off-putting porcelain doll "perfection", but...She looks so vibrant and alive and is, frankly, stunning. With the hair and dress she makes me think of Sophia Loren or Peggy Lee. As Laughing Magpie said, she's not boring! Gorgeous look! Go Drew...John and Lionel are grinning down upon you!

I've also seen her compared to Angie Dickenson from the early 60's. So glad you all agree with me!

I didn't watch the awards -- but holy-hell-Hanna, Drew is utterly gorgeous in that photo!

The 'experts' have it 100% wrong.

Hollywood is afraid of something different or daring, especially on the red carpet.
The Run-Gay guys loved it too.

Love it! I was thrilled to see her own her own style~~this is completely flattering & feminine on her. She has the look of a true Hollywood Starlet in this ensemble, head to toe!

Remember Fay Dunaway in The Thomas Crown Affair? I want to wear my hair like hers. I want a hairdresser to come to my house and give me one of her do's everyday.
