Couture Allure Giveaway #3

If you've been following along, you know I cleaned out my bookshelves over the holiday break. Today's giveaway is for a copy of the book "American Dress Pattern Catalogs, 1873 - 1909. This is a softcover book published in 1988 by Dover Books and is an invaluable resource for dating antique clothing. I no longer sell antique clothing, so it's time to send this book on to someone who can use it.

The book contains reprints of pattern catalog pages and cover illustrations and descriptions from antique patterns. There are no actual patterns in the book. Everything is in black and white, and all illustrations are line drawings, no photographs. The book shows mostly women's clothing, but there are some pages of mens and childrens as well.

Excellent condition with some minor wear to the lower spine and a hand written inscription on the title page.

How do you enter to win? Simple! Visit my website, www.coutureallure.com and pick your favorite item for sale. Leave a comment here with a link to that item and you're entered! OR become a new fan of Couture Allure on Facebook, come back here and leave a comment that you've done so. Do both, and you're entered twice! The winner will be drawn on Friday, January 15th. Please note: If your Blogger profile does not include your email address, please leave it in your comment so I have a way to contact you. The book will be shipped via Media Mail in the U.S. and First Class International Mail outside the U.S. It is important to note - if you live outside the U.S. or Canada, I will need to ask you to pay the postage costs, which could be as much as $13.00 depending upon where in the world you live.

So many beautiful things! I was having a tough time choosing but had about decided on the '60's psychedelic evening gown in the bright pink print. I had something in the early '70's with a very similar print that I loved. Then I came on the Rosalie Macrini http://www.coutureallure.com/products/vintage-50s-rosalie-macrini-draped-full-skirt-party-dress-small-bust-34
and it was no contest. The color and its variation, the draping, the rose!!!!!Exquisite, I love it.I also became an "official" FB fan earlier this week.

I reproduce vintage clothing and sometimes I find pieces that are hard to pinpoint. A book like this would be awesome! I love all vintage clothing but really prefer the 1930s and 1940s. It is great to have Couture Allure blogs to read :) Bought clothing off Ebay from Couture Allure and was pleased to see that this website existed. Keep them coming!
