I was at the mall yesterday and noticed lots of printed tights and leggings in the windows of the stores that cater to the younger crowd. They might not know it, but printed tights are not new. Today's images are all from the fall of 1965, when this idea really took off with the Mod set. You were on the cutting edge if you wore your tights with a matching sweater and just a mini skirt over the two pieces. What's old is new again.....again.

Weekend Eye Candy - Golo Mod Boot, 1967
We saw a cute pair of Golo shoes earlier this week, and this morning I found this pair of boots from Golo made in 1967. Adjustable height boots in patent leather with rubber soles. Zippers separate each section so the boots can be worn as high or as low as you like.

Op Art Clothing - 1966
Op art: n A school of abstract art characterized by the use of geometric shapes and brilliant colors to create optical illusions.
These clothes are all from 1966, when Mod op art was all the rage. Bright colors were bounced off of each other in bold graphic shapes. These dresses would have been worn with contrasting brightly colored tights.
Front - A shocking pink huge letter F on an ultraviolet background.
Back - Neon turquoise bars on ultraviolet background.
Both dresses by Avagolf, an Italian knitwear company.
White lines impact on a black wool knit dress by Cadillac Imports.
Diagonal stripes of black and white broken by a vertical stripe. Suit by Gino Paoli. Gloves by Hansen.
Black and white again, here on a wool sweater by Jantzen matched with a leather skirt by Albert Alfus. Mittens by Hansen.
Does this inspire you to wear something bold today?

Vintage 60s Mod Orange Coat

I am over-the-moon in love with this coat. It's vintage mid to late 1960's and completely Mod. And it's orange. How could you not love an orange coat?

Narciso Rodriguez showed a bright burst of an orange coat in his Fall/Winter 2008 line. Ralph Lauren, Nina Ricci, and Prada also showed bright orange for fall.

Take a look at the details of that 1960's coat. The strong geometric seams are accented with topstitching. And those buttons? They have hot pink centers. Pair this coat with hot pink tights and you've got an eye-popping and eye-catching outfit that is true vintage but fits right in with today's style trends.
See this coat at Couture Allure on EBay. Click the top photo to see the details.
