Awhile back, I promised you an ongoing series of
fashion faux-pas from the 80s. But first, don't forget to sign up for our
latest giveaway - 4 issues of "Vintage Fashions" magazine!
And now, for your Monday morning wake up call. Don't ever dress like this again, OK?

Honey, I lost my underarms!

A shaggy jacket made from acrylic
string. I kid you not.

A lovely zip-up cardigan in acrylic popcorn crochet. Again, I kid you not.

And since you can't have a post about bad 80s fashion without some big-ass plaid....
Lest you think awful 80s fashion was the exclusive domain of women, here are the guys.

You can't get much worse than a cotton terrycloth jumpsuit.

Or maybe you can, if it's a cotton velour tracksuit.

Plaid for men. Help meeeeeeeeeeeee......

The 80's looking back I guess it was not one of the fashion decades.
Also sign me up for the magazines drawing.
Ha,ha! The great thing about fashion is that it can always compensate for it's own mistakes. You can take those diabolical pieces and translate them into something fantastic!
Ugh. Where do you FIND this stuff, lady?
A spit my coffee kind of post, some of those photos were missing highlands and bagpipes!!!
I love your blog!!!

Well, Plaid is always used in one form or another!
These are just hilarious. Thanks for the laugh. The "batwing" top is great if you're triceps get really flabby, but other than that I can't think of any reason to wear it! And those old men's catalogs are great. How cheesy!
There is a male designer by the name of Anthony Mark Hankins who sells his line on one of the shopping networks. His clothes look very much like the first picture!
Nope, not going to agree with you on the plaid. I like BOTH the plaid examples you post above. In fact, I have been looking for a pair of pants like that for a while now. Admittedly, not to wear with a double breasted blazer or silk tie...
I was lucky to miss some of those 1980's clothes but it's fun to look at the pictures of them. Thank you signing me up for the magazine drawing.
Wait, I LIKE that velor tracksuit...AND those plaid pants. And I'm a guy.
