Moving on, I finally broke down and purchased some vintage magazines from the 1980's. This decade has been influencing current fashion for the past couple of seasons, and it is time to admit that clothing from the 80's is now considered vintage.

Several designers showed exaggerated shoulder lines for Fall 2009. Above, two looks from Louis Vuitton. You think those shoulders are new? Take a look at how we did it in the spring of 1984.

Man. I still feel like the 80s just ended. Can that stuff REALLY be vintage?
Ugh. I hated the 80s when I was IN the 80s. As it is now a huge influence in fashion, I am running more and more towards vintage from the 50s (my favorite decade). However, I have found some pieces from the 40s with shoulder pads that look really wonderful because they accentuate the shoulder without overwhelming them.
Thanks doll,

I was in the best shape of my life in the 80's. What did I wear? Huge oversized tops with leggings. You could not see my body under all that fabric! I still cringe at the photos.
I went to a friends house today and helped her clean out her closet. She had some great 80's clothes. She also had a beautiful beaded Oleg Casini Gown. I thought of you when I saw it. We packed everything away in bags and will re-visit her closets another day.
Please....please....don't make me do the big shoulder thing again. I look back at some of my photos from the 80s and just cringe.
