Barbara Stanwyck and Edith Head

Did you know that actress Barbara Stanwyck insisted that Edith Head design her personal wardrobe as well as her on-screen costumes?  Edith Head was able to hide Stanwyck's long waisted figure by the use of wide belts and design interest at the bust.  This blue and white silk evening gown from the actress' personal wardrobe was designed by Edith Head and had a little bolero to match.

Love the old joke about Ms Head... always gave me a little chuckle. Ms Stanwyck doesn't look long waisted however, that's obviously a trick of Ms Head's. :)

Didn't Elizabeth Taylor also use Ms. Head for her personal clothing?

I stood in her studio at Paramount in the 60s. A great thrill.
