Exhibits of Interest - Outerwear and Embroidery

The Morris Museum in Morristown, NJ presents the exhibit, "Stepping Out in Style: Outerwear from the Past 150 Years". Showing now through March 2009, the exhibit features an assortment of antique and vintage capes, coats, jackets and furs. The highlight of the exhibit is this 1890's evening coat in apricot silk velvet by Charles Frederick Worth.

The Rubin Museum of Art in New York City presents an exhibition of 60 embroidered textiles of South Asia in "Color and Light". Included are ceremonial scarves, clothing embellished with mirrors and metallic thread, and vibrant patterned domestic fabrics dating from the 1700's to today.
