The Pat Premo for me, please. Dots vs. stripes is an interesting quandary that one of my friends was faced with recently. Dots won for her, but we both admitted to having reservations about polka dots. Based on nothing specific we could define, we both somehow believe at "a certain age" dots are can look too youthy. That doesn't shouldn't stop one from wearing them, but it was a niggling concern that we both agreed was better left behind because...well, who cares? Polka dots are fun and awesome.
I love the cut on the Young Modes dress, too. That bodice is gorgeously constructed.
I do agree that dots can be too youthful looking at times, but if you keep it to a smaller scale or lighter colors, it should be just fine. I loved Rami's version of dots for Miss Piggy on Project Runway All Stars!
Dots dots dots, there was a time when i never left the house without dots (or huge dots), but i quite like horizontal stripes too.
I like both, but I prefer stripes because I think a stripe offers more style possibilities: orient them vertically, horizontally, or on the bias.
I also like a combination of dots and stripes, as long as the colors co-ordinate.
If one is a little "hefty", then of course horizontal stripes are a no no. But vertical stripes can be slimming!!
I agree, combining dots and stripes is a marvelous idea. As for me, I'm dotty for dots!
I think polka dot shoes would work great with that striped Pat Premo set.
Wow! I just bought a vintage Baar and Beards scarf yesterday. I didn't know anything about it, so I googled it and your blog came up. Even more of a coincidence, I just posted some vintage photos from 1950's Spiegel and Montgomery Wards catalogs on today's post. Your blog is great. I'll be coming back.
Oh wow, I LOVE the Pat Premo playsuit (starting to long for warmer weather already)!
I've said over and over that someone needs to start making these playsuit sets again.
I'm a stripes girl myself!
